Glenn Wran has extensive experience in senior management across a wide range of organisations including private enterprise, the education sector and the NSW public service. He has also held positions on many boards and charitable organisations. The diversity of these positions places him in the top level of managers who are able to provide executive leadership and management in organisations requiring restructuring, re-engineering, marketing or re-branding.
The diversity of his skills is evident in his appointment as the Director of Logistics for a major musical production of the 2006 Anzac International Military Tattoo. In this role Glenn was responsible for overseeing immigration and visas, issues management, protocol, security and both international and domestic transport, along with providing accommodation and catering for the cast of 900 international performers.
He more recently completed a complex consultancy for the NSW Department of Education and Training in corruption prevention, complaints, investigations, staff conduct and fraud. This involved policy development, training, reviewing existing practices, presenting papers at conferences and advising the departmental executive on future directions. In 2004 Glenn undertook an 18 month contract as Divisional Director of Specialist Services for NSW Businesslink, a government department responsible for managing the shared business services for all human service government departments.
Prior to that he was employed by the NSW Department of Public Works and Services in a number of senior management roles. He was General Manager of the State Valuation Office for 3 years, General Manager of Infrastructure and Environmental Services for 12 months, General Manager of Wastewater and Infrastructure Technologies for 12 months, Director of Internal Audit and Investigation for 2 years and assisted the Director-General as a strategic analyst for 2 years.
He held the position of Chief of Staff in the Office of the Minister for Sport and Recreation in 1995 following 5 years as Executive Director of Foley, Wran and Hartley, a company which provided corporate advice and solutions to clients. Prior to that Glenn had been employed by Bond University as Director of Marketing and Public Relations during which time he increased enrolments at the university by 1000 and represented the university at an international level.
His academic qualifications include a Master of Business Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Commercial Law, a Graduate Certificate in Management, marketing and project management.
At present he is a director of both Interplast Australia and the Australian Cord Blood Bank and is Assistant District Governor of Rotary International District 9750. Previous directorships include the Australian Pork Corporation (1990 - 1993), Business Enterprise Centres (NSW) Ltd (1998 – 1999), The Children’s Cochlear Implant Centre (1998 - 2002), Advisory Board Faculty of Business UWS (1999 – 2002), 4th Int’l Conference on Quality Management Research (1999), Rotary International District 9750 (2001 – 2002), Telstra Child Flight (2003), Central Sydney Area Health Service (2000 – 2004) and Rotary Club of Haberfield (1999 – 2005).
